We are co-authors on a new review: Polarization of immune responses in fish: The 'macrophages first' point of view, that has come out in Molecular Immunology. Well done to our collaborator Geert Wiegertjes, the lead author, from the University of Wageningen in The Netherlands. To read more about Geert's research see: http://www.wageningenur.nl/en/Expertise-Services/Chair-groups/Animal-Sciences/Cell-Biology-and-Immunology-Group/People/Wiegertjes-Geert.htm In October the Johnston/Elks/Evans/King labs went on their first JEEK Retreat. We are all fledgling groups working on phagocyte biology using different models including cell lines, zebrafish, drosophila and dictyostelium. We stayed in a beautiful (and huge) cottage in rural Staffordshire and alongside multiple science talks we enjoyed activities including a quiz, beer tasting, orienteering and karaoke (well, some of us enjoyed the karaoke more than others...).
